I'm a native New Yorker who attended Oxford for my undergraduate studies in the early 2000s. I didn't seriously expect to meet, date, kiss, or marry Prince William, though I'm confident my mother hoped I might. I'd started Oxford late — after a few semesters in a liberal arts college in the US — so I was a couple of years older than him when we met. It sounds dramatic to relocate your life on a whim, but I'd stopped trusting in stability after my mother died. It's 16 years later, and I'm still living in London with my now-husband, Will, and I have zero regrets.

"We'll obviously get through hopefully a bit of work today and then we'll see how they pull up from a selection point of view," the wicketkeeper-captain said. "Lockie went off in the last game with a bit of an Achilles' niggle, so fingers crossed he'll be fine for tomorrow." Ferguson was injured during Saturday's high-scoring game against Australia which New Zealand lost by five runs, falling to fourth on the table. "So fingers crossed, all those guys can get through a bit of work today at training and be ready to go tomorrow." The Black Caps face in-form South Africa who have climbed to second in the table with three straight wins.

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell by 0.29 cents, or 0.37%, to $87.30 a barrel. Easing sanctions on Venezuela's oil industry could result in increased oil supply. "It's more of the same on Monday in terms of the conflict in the Middle East being contained from affecting crude oil supplies," said John Kilduff, partner with Again Capital LLC. Both oil benchmarks had climbed nearly 6% on Friday, taking Brent 7.5% higher on the week and WTI up 5.9%. The war between Islamist group Hamas and Israel poses one of the most significant geopolitical risks to oil markets since Russia's invasion of Ukraine last year, analysts say. With fears of the conflict escalating, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will return to Israel on Monday to talk "about the way forward".

Oil falls more that $1 a barrel on Venezuela deal hopes

"The reported deal ... would help to raise the country's oil output from very depressed levels," said William Jackson, chief emerging markets economist for Capital Economics. Monday's falling prices appeared to "a breather to take in events in the Middle East" as opposed to expected production increases in Venezuela, said Andrew Lipow, president of Lipow Oil Associates. "Negotiations with Venezuela could lead to a surge in exports of crude oil that is already in inventory," Lipow said. "It's more of the same on Monday in terms of the conflict in the Middle East being contained from affecting crude oil supplies," said John Kilduff, partner with Again Capital LLC. Heightened tensions in the Middle East may have compounded other risk factors to push prices higher last week, market sources said.

England sacrificed opener Jason Roy to accommodate Brook, who has been marked out as a future superstar of the game because of his explosive batting. "We'll make the right call here - if he's not fit to play, he's not fit to play," Buttler said. Brook, an automatic pick in England's test side and part of their T20 World Cup winning team last year, is likely to be the beneficiary of circumstances. The start of his international career has been outstanding in T20 cricket and in the test format," Buttler said. We know from test cricket, he can play big innings.

Man on a mission, Djokovic comes through Couacaud test
  + stars: | 2023-01-19 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +3 min
Fourth seed Djokovic changed his shirt and brought in the heavy artillery to whip through the final two sets, setting up a third-round date with Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. Djokovic's half of the draw opened for him earlier on Thursday when second seed Casper Ruud was knocked out. The 35-year-old took a medical timeout at 4-4 in the second set to have the strapping changed and later conceded that it had been troubling him. The Mauritius-born 27-year-old continued to throw everything at Djokovic and played a brilliant second set, finally coming back from 3-0 down to take the tiebreak 7-5. One fan attracted his ire in the fourth set, however, after repeatedly making noise while Djokovic was preparing to serve.
AL RAYYAN, Qatar, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Back in the World Cup for just the second time and the first time in 36 years, underdog Canada will head into their opener against second-ranked Belgium 100% fit and with nothing to lose, coach John Herdman said on Tuesday. Davies, who will play on the wing for Canada, only joined his team mates on Friday after staying back in Germany for treatment. Herdman had said Davies would be assessed when he arrived in Doha and on Tuesday pronounced the 22-year-old good to go. "You've got ask the question, if not the first game what's the risk, what's the second game risk but at the end of the day Phonzie is fit now. Having not been in the World Cup since 1986, Canada's players have never experienced the pressure of such moments and that says Herdman could be a positive.
US stock futures slumped Wednesday as investors braced for further interest-rate hikes. The 10-year Treasury yield broke past 4% for the first time in 12 years for the same reason. Investors are worried stubborn inflation will mean rates stay higher for longer. S&P 500 futures were down 1.18%, Nasdaq futures were 1.61% lower, and futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 276 points, or 0.95%, as losses accelerated in premarket trading. Higher rates generally weigh on stock prices, as they encourage saving over spending, make borrowing more expensive, and reduce the relative return from equities compared to other assets.
